This readme provides information for the Dell Server and Printer

Management Pack version 3.1 which can be imported to Microsoft System

Center Operations Manager (Operations Manager) 2007 SP1 and System

Center Essentials 2007 SP1. All references to Operations Manager are

also applicable to System Center Essentials.

This file contains updated information for your "Dell Server and

Printer Management Pack for Microsoft System Center Operations

Manager User's Guide" and any other technical documentation included

with the Dell Management Pack for Operations Manager.

The Dell Server and Printer Management Pack enables the Microsoft

System Center Operations Manager to discover and monitor the status

of Dell servers, Dell printers, DRAC and CMC Network devices on a

defined network segment.

This improved representation, which includes the receipt of failure

and pre-failure alerts, allows you to assess, respond to, and ensure

the availability of Dell servers and network devices monitored in the

Operations Manager environment. In addition to improved availability,

the Management Pack enhances the ability to monitor and manage the

hardware in a single management solution.

The latest web release is available at: http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?releaseid =R183698 * If the DRAC/CMC/Printer/iDRAC Console launch gives you a "Page cannot be displayed" error, ensure that there is network connectivity from the device (DRAC/CMC/Printer/iDRAC card), and that the device is configured with a valid IP address.

Control tasks on managed systems, the BMC Management Utility version 2.0 or later must be installed on the management station. Please note that BMC Management utility (BMU) 2.0 or later should be installed on SCOM management server in order to carry out the remote power control tasks. BMC tasks use default credentials including the default BMC install path (c:\program Files\Dell\SysMgt\bmc) OM 5.3 onwards. The BMC Management Utility is included on the Dell Systems Management Tools and Documentation DVD.

The item "/Dell.connections.001/Dell.Connections.Report.* log' cannot be found” is displayed. This may be due to the following reasons: a) RMS, Reporting and Database servers don’t match the recommended configuration.

12) Virtual Disk Group Name for Physical Disk is not displayed properly.This happens When there are more than 2 physical disks and each physical disk has a large name, typically more than 16 characters. 13) Operations Manager does not update the status of OM Services. It shows the health of the service as green when the service start mode is “Disabled”. 14) Printer attributes 'cover status' and 'status' are showing numeric values instead of strings.
