To perform a clean installation of the operating system:
1
Connect a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to your system.
2 Turn on your system.
3 Insert the Server Assistant CD or the System Support CD (for the
PowerEdge 400SC) into the CD drive.
The
Dell OpenManage Server Assistant window appears.
If you are using the
Server Assistant CD to perform a clean installation,
in the
Select Language drop-down dialog box, select the appropriate
language for your system and then go to step 4.
If you are using the
System Support CD to perform a clean installation,
perform the following steps:
a Click the appropriate language for your system.
The
Dell Software License Agreement screen appears.
b Read the license agreement and click Accept .
The
Welcome to the Dell OpenManage Server Assistant
screen appears.
c Go to step 4.
4 Click Server Setup to install the operating system.
The
Set the Date and Time dialog box appears.
5 Select the appropriate date, time, and time zone, and click Continue .
If a RAID controller
is not installed in your system, the Select
Operating System
dialog box appears. Go to step 6.
If a RAID controller is installed in your system, the
Configure RAID
dialog box appears.
If RAID is configured on your system, the
No Change selection is
enabled. If you
do not want to change the existing RAID configuration,
select
No Change , click Continue , and go to step 6. If prompted,
restart your system.
