To disable RIP globally, use the no router rip command in CONFIGURATION mode.
Congure RIP on Interfaces
When you enable RIP globally on the system, interfaces meeting certain conditions start receiving RIP routes.
By default, interfaces that you enable and congure with an IP address in the same subnet as the RIP network address receive RIPv1 and
RIPv2 routes and send RIPv1 routes.
Assign IP addresses to interfaces that are part of the same subnet as the RIP network identied in the network command syntax.
Controlling RIP Routing Updates
By default, RIP broadcasts routing information out all enabled interfaces, but you can congure RIP to send or to block RIP routing
information, either from a specic IP address or a specic interface.
To control which devices or interfaces receive routing updates, congure a direct update to one router and congure interfaces to block
RIP updates from other sources.
To control the source of RIP route information, use the following commands.
• Dene a specic router to exchange RIP information between it and the Dell EMC Networking system.
ROUTER RIP mode
neighbor ip-address
You can use this command multiple times to exchange RIP information with as many RIP networks as you want.
• Disable a specic interface from sending or receiving RIP routing information.

Assigning a Prex List to RIP Routes
Another method of controlling RIP (or any routing protocol) routing information is to lter the information through a prex list. A prex list is
applied to incoming or outgoing routes.
Those routes must meet the conditions of the prex list; if not, Dell EMC Networking OS drops the route. Prex lists are globally applied on
all interfaces running RIP. Congure the prex list in PREFIX LIST mode prior to assigning it to the RIP process.
For conguration information about prex lists, refer to Access Control Lists (ACLs).
To apply prex lists to incoming or outgoing RIP routes, use the following commands.
• Assign a congured prex list to all incoming RIP routes.
ROUTER RIP mode
distribute-list prefix-list-name in
• Assign a congured prex list to all outgoing RIP routes.

To view the current RIP conguration, use the show running-config command in EXEC mode or the show config command in
ROUTER RIP mode.
