Administrator Guide

The below example configuration shows how to enable the BGP graceful restart.
DellEMC# configure terminal
DellEMC(conf)# router bgp 400
DellEMC(conf-router_bgp)# bgp graceful-restart
DellEMC(conf-router_bgp)# exit
Redistributing Routes
In addition to filtering routes, you can add routes from other routing instances or protocols to the BGP process. You can configure the
device to redistribute ISIS, OSPF, static, or directly connected routes into BGP process using the
redistribute command.
To add routes from other routing instances or protocols, use any of the following commands in ROUTER BGP mode.
Include directly connected or user-configured (static) routes into BGP.
ROUTER BGP or CONF-ROUTER_BGPv6_ AF mode
redistribute {connected | static} [route-map map-name]
Configure the following parameters:
connected: Indicate that you are redistributing routes to directly connected routes into BGP.
static: Indicate that you are redistributing static routes into BGP.
route-map map-name: Specify the name of a configured route map to be consulted before adding the connected or static
route.
Include specific ISIS routes into BGP.
ROUTER BGP or CONF-ROUTER_BGPv6_ AF mode
redistribute isis [level-1 | level-1-2 | level-2] [metric value] [route-map map-name]
Configure the following parameters:
isis: Indicate that you are redistributing ISIS routes into BGP.
level-1, level-1-2, or level-2: Assign all redistributed routes to a level. The default is level-2.
metric value: The value is from 0 to 16777215. The default is 0.
route-map map-name: Specify the name of a configured route map to be consulted before adding the ISIS route.
Include specific OSPF routes into BGP.
ROUTER BGP or CONF-ROUTER_BGPv6_ AF mode
redistribute ospf process-id [match external {1 | 2} | match internal] [metric-type {external
| internal}] [route-map map-name]
Configure the following parameters:
ospf: Indicates that you are redistributing OSPF routes in BGP.
process-id: the range is from 1 to 65535.
match internal, external1, and external2: Specify the type of OSPF routes to be redistributed into BGP.
metric-type: external or internal.
route-map map-name: Specify the name of a configured route map to be consulted before adding the OSPF route.
DellEMC# configure terminal
DellEMC(conf)# ip route 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 null 0
DellEMC(conf)# router bgp 400
DellEMC(conf-router_bgp_af)# redistribute static
DellEMC(conf-router_bgp_af)# exit
The above configuration example show how to create a static route and redistribute the static routes into the BGP routing table.
Redistributing iBGP Routes into IGP
Dell EMC Networking OS supports redistributing iBGP routes into an Internal Gateway Protocol (IGP), such as, OSPF and IS-IS.
NOTE:
When you enable redistribution of iBGP routes into an IGP, ensure that you use route maps to control what
prefixes are redistributed. Redistributing all iBGP routes can create a loop in the network. After configuring the bgp
redistribute-internal command, use the clear ip BGP * command to clear all BGP sessions.
Redistribute iBGP routes.
