Syntax
switchport [[backup interface {interface | port-channel
number}] | mode private-vlan {host | promisucous | trunk}]
To remove an interface from Layer 2 mode and place it in Layer 3 mode, enter the
no switchport command. If a switchport backup interface is configured, first
remove the backup configuration. To remove a switchport backup interface, enter
the no switchport backup interface command.
Parameters
backup (OPTIONAL) Use this option to configure a redundant Layer
2 link without using Spanning Tree. The keyword backup
configures a backup port so that if the primary port fails, the
backup port changes to the up state. If the primary later
comes up, it becomes the backup.
interface interface (OPTIONAL) Enter any of the following keywords and slot/
port or number information:
For a 1-GigabitEthernet interface, enter the keyword
GigabitEthernet then the slot/port information.
For a 10-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword
TenGigabitEthernet then the slot/port information.
