Setting Up Dell Online Diagnostics
This section describes the process for setting up Dell Online Diagnostics.
Before You Begin
Read the setup requirements and ensure that your system meets or
exceeds the minimum requirements.
Read the Online Diagnostics readme file provided with this application.
The readme contains the latest information about Online Diagnostics in
addition to information about known issues.
Things to Remember
Online Diagnostics is engineered to diagnose hardware problems on
individual systems. Online Diagnostics does not address problems
that arise at the network level, unless the problem resides with a
NIC on a single system.
The hard drive diagnostic tests are designed to run as low-priority
background tasks to limit their effect on other hard drive I/O activity.
Because of their low priority, it is recommended that you limit drive activity
while running the hard drive diagnostic tests. The tests may run slowly or
even stop when another hard drive I/O activity is running simultaneously.
However, the tests resume when the hard drive I/O activity stops.
Online Diagnostics runs concurrently with all other applications running
on your system. When you run diagnostic tests, the additional system load
is significant and impacts the performance of your system and all running
applications. If you are running critical applications that require rapid
response or consume significant system resources, take appropriate
precautions before running these diagnostics. Close all non-essential
applications and run diagnostic tests only during non-peak hours.
Running Online Diagnostics simultaneously in graphical user interface (GUI)
and command line interface (CLI) modes is not supported.
