DHCP Server
To congure the DHCP server use the following information.
Conguring the DHCP Server Settings
Before you can use BMP mode on a switch, rst congure a DHCP server.
To assign an IP address to the system and other parameters, congure the DHCP server. For more information, see the Dell EMC
Networking OS Conguration Guide, the Dynamic Host Conguration Protocol chapter.
• Congure the DHCP server with the following set of parameters for each client switch.
Update the following parameters on the appropriate DHCP server:
• Boot File Name — the Dell EMC Networking OS image loaded on the system. Option 67 in the DHCP oer is the boot
lename; the lename is BOOTP payload. If you specify both, option 67 is used. The system supports the TFTP, HTTP, HTTPS,
SFTP, SCP, FTP, FLASH, and USBFLASH protocols.
• Configuration File Name — the congurations applied to the system. The conguration lename is expected to use option
209. To congure the device by itself for a download conguration le, you can also create a preconguration script in option 209.
• File Server Address — the server where the image and congurations les are placed. The address is assumed to be a
TFTP address unless it is given as a URL. The system supports the TFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, SCP, and FTP protocols, as well as
les stored in ash.
• Domain Name Server (Optional) — the DNS server contacted to resolve the host name.
• IP Address — dynamic IP address for the system. Use this IP address for le transfers only.

NOTE: BMP eventually exits when a timeout occurs.
In the following scenarios, BMP requests a dierent DHCP oer.
• If the oer contains only a boot image that cannot be downloaded, BMP requests another DHCP oer.
• If you enable the reload-type config-scr-download enable command and the conguration le in the oer cannot be
downloaded, BMP requests another DHCP oer.
