Setting up the Puppet Master
Puppet uses the client-server model. The client-server regularly connects to the master server to synchronize their congurations and to
report the changes, if any, back to the central nodes. When you install or upgrade Puppet, you must upgrade the Puppet Master
component rst. To install and set up the Puppet Master, follow these steps:
1 Install the Ruby script.
sudo yum install ruby
2 Add the puppet repository.
sudo rpm -ivh http://yum.puppetlabs.com/puppetlabs-release-el-7.noarch.rpm
3 Install the puppet master.
sudo yum install puppet-server
4 Go to the Dell EMC Networking web portal at https://www.force10networks.com/CSPortal20/Main/SupportMain.aspx. Download the
dellnetworking-os9 puppet module and install it in the puppet master.
5 Install the rest_client ruby gem.
gem install rest-client
6 Open port 8140 in iptables.
iptables -I INPUT 2 -p tcp -- dport 8140 -j ACCEPT
7 Run the puppet master.
puppet master
8 Kill the process and restart the puppet master.
ps aux | grep puppet
