3 The system downloads the Dell EMC Networking OS image from the le server.
4 The system compares the current local build image to the downloaded build image as follows:
a If the build image versions match, the system does not try to load any image and comes up with the Dell prompt.

b If the Dell EMC Networking OS image versions are dierent, the system stores the downloaded Dell EMC Networking OS image
in local ash memory and loads the Dell EMC Networking OS image from ash. This process repeats until the Dell EMC
Networking OS image versions match.
The system looks for the conguration le on the le server. If the system does not nd a conguration le, the download fails. If the Dell
EMC Networking OS image processing is successful, BMP stops. If the Dell EMC Networking OS image download also fails, the current
oer is treated as invalid and BMP tries to send DISCOVER messages.
Reload with a DHCP Server Oer Without a DNS Server
To reload the Dell EMC Networking OS on a switch using a pre–conguration script, the following must be true:
BMP is enabled.
The download of the script is from an external server and the location is specied in the DHCP oer.
The rst line of the script contains one of the following:
#!/usr/bin/expect
#!/usr/bin/tclsh
#!/usr/bin/zsh
If you installed the SmartScripts package, the Dell EMC Networking OS also supports pre–congurated scripts in Perl, Python, and
Ruby.
#!/usr/pkg/bin/perl
#!/usr/pkg/bin/python
After the rst line, but before the start of the script, the script contains the signature #/DELL-NETWORKING.
The pre–conguration script downloads instead of the conguration le.
The pre–conguration script runs before applying the start-up conguration le.
The pre–conguration script can use the Dell EMC Networking OS CLI commands using the f10do utility.
When the pre–conguration script completes, the start up conguration le automatically applies.
