Setup Guide

Open Management Infrastructure
Dell EMC Networking OS supports the Open Management Infrastructure (OMI) framework. OMI is supported on the S3048–ON, S3100
Series, S4048–ON, S5048F-ON, S6000, S6000-ON, S6010–ON, S6100–ON, C9010, and Z9100–ON platforms.
Overview
THIS IS A TEST. OMI is an open source package which manages infrastructure components such as servers, storage, and networking.
OMI supports the distributed management task force (DMTF) common information model (CIM) / web-based enterprise management
(WBEM) standards. To manage the congurations received through OMI, the Dell EMC Networking OS uses the representational state
transfer (REST) interface. OMI also uses the Python and Ruby libraries of the SmartScripts package.
The desired state conguration (DSC) is a new management platform in Windows PowerShell. It deploys and manages conguration data
for software services and manages the environment in which these services run. The switches support the switch view class schema to
declaratively congure Ethernet switches using the DSC.
The managed object format (.MOF) corresponds to the windows managed object les. You can congure the denition of classes and
instances in the MOF les. The management station sends the OMI conguration to the switches in MOF le format.

Installing OMI Agent Package
To install the OMI agent package, follow these steps.
Smart Scripting is a pre–requisite for using OMI. Install the Smart Scripting package before you run the OMI package (For detailed
information about SmartScripts, see Smart Scripting).
1 Go to the Dell EMC Networking web portal at https://www.force10networks.com/CSPortal20/Main/SupportMain.aspx and enter
your User Id, Password, and click Login. The customer support page appears.
2 Click the Software Center tab.
3 From the left pane, click Automation Software.
4 To accept the DELL End User License Agreement, at the lower end of the page, click I Agree. Open Automation Software packages
are listed.
5 From the OA OMI software package, select and download the le corresponding to the switch from the following list:
OMI-I-9.14.2.0.tar.gz for S3048–ON, S4048–ON, S4048T–ON, S6000, S6000–ON, S6010–ON, S6100–ON, and
Z9100–ON.
OMI-I-9.14.2.0.tar.gz for S5048F–ON.
You can also download the DellNetworkingDSC.zip le from the Dell Support website at https://www.force10networks.com/
CSPortal20/Main/SupportMain.aspx.
Pre-requisites
Before using OMI on the Dell EMC Networking OS switch, congure the following:
1 OMI works only with PowerShell version 4.0 or higher.
2 Create a user, with the user privilege 15, where this user can congure the box from the management station through OMI.
3 Install the smartscript package. For detailed information, see the Installing SmartScripting section of the Smart Scripting chapter.
