Storage Management Message Reference 101
2109 SMART
warning
temperature
Warning /
Non-critical
Cause: A disk has
reached an
unacceptable
temperature and
received a SMART alert
(predictive failure).
The disk is likely to fail
in the near future.
Action 1: Determine
why the physical disk
has reached an
unacceptable
temperature. A variety
of factors can cause the
excessive temperature.
For example, a fan
may have failed,
the thermostat may be
set too high, or the
room temperature may
be too hot or cold.
Verify that the fans in
the server or enclosure
are working. If the
physical disk is in an
enclosure, you should
check the thermostat
settings and examine
whether the enclosure
is located near a
heat source.
