Changing Boot Options
Grub, the method Enterprise Linux uses to launch operating systems on Dell
PowerEdge servers, uses various command and configuration options that allow you
to control the operating system boot process. Grub is started during the server boot
process. To change Linux boot options, complete the following steps:
1
Boot the server.
A prompt displays on the server console requiring the user to change boot
options.
2
Press any console keyboard key to continue.
3
Press <p
>
to issue the password command to Grub.
You are prompted for the password.
4
Type the default password of
dell
or your chosen password if you have
changed the default.
Grub can now display the current boot options and enables you to edit these
options as required.
