Information
The software compares the MEDs only if the path contains no external autonomous system numbers. If
you enable this command, use the clear ip bgp * command to recompute the best path.
bgp bestpath med missing-as-best
During path selection, indicate preference to paths with missing MED (MULTI_EXIT_DISC) over paths with an advertised MED
attribute.
Syntax
bgp bestpath med missing-as-best
To return to the default selection, use the no bgp bestpath med missing-as-best command.

Information
The MED is a 4-byte unsigned integer value and the default behavior is to assume a missing MED as
4294967295. This command causes a missing MED to be treated as 0. During path selection, paths with a
lower MED are preferred over paths with a higher MED.
