Information
Dell EMC Networking recommends keeping the default setting for this command. If you do change the
time interval between VRRP advertisements on one router, change it on all routers.
authentication-type
Enable authentication of VRRP data exchanges.
Syntax
authentication-type simple [encryption-type] password
To delete an authentication type and password, use the no authentication-type command.
Parameters
simple Enter the keyword simple to specify simple authentication.
encryption-type
(OPTIONAL) Enter one of the following:
0 (zero) specifies an unencrypted authentication data follows.
7 (seven) specifies a hidden authentication data follows.
LINE is the unencrypted (cleartext) authentication data.
password
Enter a character string up to eight characters long as a password. If you do not
enter an encryption-type, the password is stored as clear text.
