User-Configurable CAM Allocation
User-configurable content-addressable memory (CAM) allows you to specify the amount of memory space that you want to
allocate for ACLs.
To allocate ACL CAM, use the cam-acl command in CONFIGURATION mode. For information about how to allocate CAM for
ACL VLANs, see Allocating ACL VLAN CAM.
The CAM space is allotted in filter processor (FP) blocks. The total amount of space allowed is 12 FP Blocks. System flow
requires four blocks; these blocks cannot be reallocated.
The ipv4acl profile range is from 0 to 8. When configuring space foripv6acl, the total number of Blocks must equal 12. The
ipv6acl allocation must be a factor of 2 (2, 4). If allocation values are not entered for the CAM regions, the value is 0.
Save the new CAM settings to the startup-config (use write-mem or copy run start) then reload the system for the new
settings to take effect.
Allocating CAM for Ingress ACLs on the Port Extender
To allocate Content Addressable Memory (CAM) for ingress ACLs on the port extenders.
You can re-allocate memory space for ACLs on the port extender by using the cam-acl-pe l2acl command in
CONFIGURATION mode. CAM space is allotted in FP blocks. The total allocated CAM space must equal 12 FP blocks. Note
that there are 16 FP blocks, but the System Flow requires 4 blocks that cannot be reallocated.
The default CAM allocation settings for ingress ACL and QoS regions are the following:
L2Acl : 5
Ipv4Acl : 4
Ipv6Acl : 0
Ipv4Qos : 2
L2Qos : 1
L2PT : 0
IpMacAcl : 0
VmanQos : 0
EcfmAcl : 0
FcoeAcl : 0
iscsiOptAcl : 0
ipv4pbr : 0
vrfv4Acl : 0
Openflow : 0
fedgovacl : 0
nlbclusteracl: 0
Select the CAM allocation for Layer 2, IPv4, and IPv6 ACLs, Layer 2 and Layer 3 (IPv4) QoS, Layer 2 Protocol Tunneling
(L2PT), IP and MAC source address validation for DHCP, and Policy-based Routing (PBR). Save the new CAM settings to
the startup-config (write-memor copy run start) then reload the system for the new settings to take effect. The total
amount of space allowed is 12 FP Blocks. System flow requires four blocks; these blocks cannot be reallocated.
The ipv4acl profile range is from 0 to 8. Ranges for the CAM profiles are from 1 to 10, except for the ipv6acl profile which
is from 0 to 4. The ipv6acl allocation must be a factor of 2 (2, 4). If allocation values are not entered for the CAM regions,
the value is 0.
