neighbor {ip-address | ipv6address | peer-group-name} activate
NOTE: Neighbors have to be activated using neighbor activate command in the respective address family.
To exchange other address prefix types (IPv4 multicast or IPv6 unicast), the neighbors must be activated under
the respective address family configuration such as address-family ipv4 multicast (for IPv4 multicast)
andaddress-family ipv6 unicast(for IPv6).
DellEMC(conf)# router bgp 10
DellEMC(conf-router_bgp)# neighbor 20.20.20.1 remote-as 200
DellEMC(conf-router_bgp)# neighbor 20.20.20.1 no shutdown
DellEMC(conf-router_bgp)# address-family ipv4 multicast
DellEMC(conf-router_bgp_af)# neighbor 20.20.20.1 activate
DellEMC(conf-router_bgp_af)# exit
Following is the sample output of show ip bgp ipv4 multicast summary command.

Example-Configuring BGP routing between peers
The following example show how BGP is configured between two peers.

To support your own IP addresses, interfaces, names, and so on, you can copy and paste from these examples to your CLI. Be
sure that you make the necessary changes.

Example of enabling BGP in Router A
Following is an example to enable BGP configuration in the router A.
RouterA# configure terminal
RouterA(conf)# router bgp 40000
RouterA(conf-router_bgp)# bgp router-id 10.1.1.99
RouterA(conf-router_bgp)# timers bgp 80 130
RouterA(conf-router_bgp)# neighbor 192.168.1.1 remote-as 45000
RouterA(conf-router_bgp)# exit
RouterA(conf)#
The neighbors configured under CONFIGURATION-ROUTER-BGP mode and are defined using the neighbor remote-as
command exchange only IPv4 unicast address prefixes.
