neighbor timers extended
Set idle hold time for a BGP neighbor or a peer group.
Syntax
neighbor {ip-address | ipv6-address | peer-group-name} timers extended idle
holdtime
To return to the default values, use the no neighbor {ip-address | ipv6-address | peer-
group-name} timers extended idle holdtime command.
Parameters
ip-address
Enter the IP address of the peer router in dotted decimal format.
ipv6-address
Enter the IPv6 address of the peer router in X:X:X:X::X format.
peer-group-name
Enter the name of the peer group to set the timers for all routers within the peer
group.
timers extended
idle holdtime
Enter a number for the time interval, in seconds, for the peer to be idle state. The
range is from 1 to 32767. The default is 15 seconds.
Defaults
The default idle holdtime is 15 seconds.

Usage
Information
The peer remains in idle state based on the configured idle holdtime. The less the idle holdtime,
less the peer in idle state.
For the new idle holdtime to take effect, you need to shutdown the respective peer manually using
neighbor shutdown command and enable the peer again.
neighbor update-source
Enable the E-Series software to use Loopback interfaces for TCP connections for BGP sessions.
Syntax
neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} update-source interface
To use the closest interface, use the no neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name}
update-source interface command.
Parameters
ip-address
Enter the IP address of the peer router in dotted decimal format.
peer-group-name
Enter the name of the peer group to disable all routers within the peer group.
interface
Enter the keyword loopback then a number of the Loopback interface. The range
is from 0 to 16383.
Defaults Not configured.
