Managing Images and Files

This chapter describes how to upload, download, and copy files, such as

firmware images and configuration files, on the switch. The topics covered in

this chapter include:

Image and File Management Overview

What Files Can Be Managed?

PowerConnect M6220, M6348, M8024, and M8024-k switches maintain

several different types of files on the flash file system. Table 13-1 describes the

files that you can manage. The table also lists the type of action you can take

on the file, which is one or more of the following:

• Download the file to the switch from a remote system.

• Upload the file from the switch to a remote system.

• Copy the file from one location on the file system to another location.

NOTE: For information about the Auto Configuration feature that enables the

switch to automatically upgrade the image or load a new configuration file during

the boot process, see Automatically Updating the Image and Configuration.
