926 Configuring IP Routing
Configuring Route Table Entries and Route Preferences
Beginning in Privileged EXEC mode, use the following commands to
configure IRDP settings.
Command Purpose
configure Enter global configuration mode.
ip route default

Configure the default route.
nextHopRtr
— IP address of the next hop router.
preference
— Specifies the preference value
(administrative distance) of an individual static route.
(Range: 1-255)
ip route

Configure a static route. Use the keyword null instead of
the next hop router IP address to configure a static reject
route.
ip-address
IP address of destination interface.
subnet-mask
Subnet mask of destination interface.
prefix-length
Length of prefix. Must be preceded
with a forward slash (/). (Range: 0-32 bits)
nextHopRtr
— IP address of the next hop router.
null
Specifies that the route is a static reject route.
preference
— Specifies the preference value
(administrative distance) of an individual static route.
(Range: 1-255)
ip route distance
integer
Set the default distance (preference) for static routes.
Lower route preference values are preferred when
determining the best route.
exit Exit to Privileged EXEC mode.
