User's Manual

l Auto-Send Field – Select a guest account field which, if set to a non-empty string or non-zero value, will
trigger an automatic SMS when the guest account is created or updated. The auto-send field can be used
to create an opt-in” facility for guests. Use a check box for the auto_send_sms field and add it to the
create_user form, or a guest self-registration instance, and SMS messages will be sent to the specified
phone number only if the check box has been selected.
l Credit Warning – When SMS credits get below this threshold, the system will send a warning to the system
administrator.
l Advanced Gateways – Select this option to configure SMS gateways from multiple SMS providers.
W-ClearPass Guest SMS services support SMS USA, SMS Worldwide, AQL, Sirocco, Tempos 21 and Upside
Wireless SMS gateways.
l SMS via SMTP – Select this option to allow visitor account receipt messages to be sent in an email using the
defined SMTP server.
l Phone Number Normalization – The phone number normalization process translates phone strings that
are entered in various formats into a single standard format. Click this drop-down list and select one of the
following options:
n Use the visitors value: When you select this option, the SMS gateway will always send the SMS
message using the phone number and country code entered by the visitor.
n Always include the country code: When you select this option, the SMS gateway will always send the
SMS message using the global country code and default phone number length specified in the Default
Country Code and Default Phone Length fields. For example, consider an Australian mobile phone
number with a default number length of 9 plus a leading zero, and a country code of 61. If you selected
the Always include the country code option, the Australian mobile number 0412345678 would
normalize to +61412345678 in the internationalized format.
n Never include the country code: When you select this option, any country code specified by the
visitor is removed before the SMS message is sent.
Earlier W-ClearPass versions used clearpass.arubanetworks.com for a number of actions, including access to
updates. The address used now is clearpass.dell-pcw.com. If you have host-specific openings in your firewall for the
W-ClearPass appliance, please update them to the new address.
