Installing An I/O Module
CAUTION:
Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and
simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and
support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow
the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.
NOTE: The I/O module must be installed in the appropriate I/O bay.
1. Unpack the I/O module and prepare it for installation.
For instructions, see the documentation that accompanied the I/O module.
2. Remove the I/O connector cover from the back of the module.
3. Lift the handle release latch and open the I/O module handle.
4. Slide the module into the enclosure.
5. Close the handle until it snaps securely into place and the module is fully seated.
6. Connect all cables that must be attached to the I/O module.
See the documentation provided with the I/O module for information about its cable connections. For more information on using the
cable enumerators to organize and manage the cables, see the Rack Installation Guide at support.dell.com/manuals.
7. A matching fabric mezzanine card must be installed in one or more blades to support the new I/O module. If necessary, install the
mezzanine card(s).
