Microsoft Windows software or hardware issue. “cng.sys” errors can be caused by:
1. Incorrectly configured, old, or corrupted Microsoft Windows device drivers.
2. Corruption in Microsoft Windows registry from a recent cng.sys-related software change
3. Virus or malware infection that has corrupted the cng.sys file
4. Hardware conflict after installing new hardware, or hardware related to cng.sys

Host bus adapter mini is missing physical disks and
backplane in Windows
Issue—On a server platform that supports HBA330 mini card, if you make any of the following changes:
Move the rear backplane of R730XD to an onboard controller.
Move an HBA330 mini from one server with one backplane configuration to another server with a different backplane configuration.
after Windows is installed, then the operating system does not detect a physical disk. However, the iDRAC and HBA330 BIOS displays all
the physical disks as working fine.
NOTE:
This issue affects the Windows operating system. However, iDRAC and HBA330 BIOS displays all disks and
backplanes as working fine. The presence of a Generic SCSI Enclosure device in Device Manager is required for Storage
Spaces Direct. If this device is not available, no enclosure is presented in Cluster Manager that is required for Storage
Spaces Direct.
Workaround—Do not replace hardware. The HBA330 mini Windows driver writes a Driver Mapping Page to the HBA330 mini firmware.
If the backplane configuration is changed after the Operating System is installed, the information displayed on the Driver Mapping page is
incorrect and you need to reset the page. To reset the Driver Mapping page, use a boot image. If you observe this issue again, contact the
Dell Technical Support.
