134 Installing System Components
Installing the SAS Backplane
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician.
You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in
your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service
and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is
not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that
came with the product.

Align the slots on the SAS backplane with the tabs on the front-chassis
assembly.

Slide down the SAS backplane until the blue release tabs snap into place.

Connect the SAS data cable(s) and power cable to the backplane. See
Figure 3-26.

Install the hard drives in their original locations. See "Installing a Hard-
Drive Carrier" on page 83.

If required, route the power/data cables along the chassis wall. See "System
Memory" on page 92.

Replace the cooling shroud. See "Installing the Cooling Shroud" on
page 91.

Close the system. See "Closing the System" on page 79.

Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on,
including any attached peripherals.

If applicable, replace the front bezel. See "Installing the Front Bezel" on
page 77.
