1 Einführung Dell EMC bietet nun persistente Intel Speichermodule für Rechenzentren (Data Center Persistent Memory Modules, DCPMMs), einen nichtflüchtigen Speicher, der den gleichen Formfaktor wie ein standardmäßiges DDR4-DIMM hat. DCPMMs sind in drei Kapazitäten verfügbar: 128 GB, 256 GB und 512 GB. DCPMMs werden in den Speichersteckplätzen des Servers installiert und sind kompatibel mit RDIMMs und LRDIMMs.

4 BIOS Themen: • • • BIOS-Konfigurationseinstellung für Intel DCPMM App-Direct-Modus-Konfiguration Speichermoduskonfiguration BIOS-Konfigurationseinstellung für Intel DCPMM DIMM-Erkennung Alle installierten DCPMMs, die das BIOS während der Systembestandsaufnahme erkannt hat, werden auf der Registerkarte „Intel Persistent Memory“ im BIOS angezeigt: Memory Settings > Persistent Memory > Intel Persistent Memory > Persistent Memory DIMM Configuration. Abbildung 3. Memory Info ANMERKUNG: Die Daten sind immer in MiB/GiB/TiB-Einheiten zu betrachten, auch wenn die Bezeichnungen MB/GB/TB verwendet werden. Der Overhead für die Benutzerkapazität beträgt bis zu 2 % der Kapazität (GiB). Möglicherweise ist ein weiterer Overhead für Regionen, Namespaces und Dateisysteme erforderlich. App-Direct-Modus-Konfiguration Ziel erstellen Ein Ziel wird im BIOS erstellt.

Zielkonfiguration Die BIOS-Optionen legen fest, wie das Ziel erstellt und die DCPMMs konfiguriert werden: Persistent [%]: ● No Change (Keine Änderung): Es werden keine Änderungen auf das aktuelle Ziel angewendet. ● 100: Ein Ziel von 100 % persistentem Speicher für die ausgewählten DCPMMs wird erstellt. ● 0 – Ein Ziel von 0 % persistentem Speicher für die ausgewählten DCPMMs wird erstellt. Dieser Vorgang konfiguriert alle DCPMMs als Speichermodus.
Abbildung 5. Regionskonfiguration Die Anzahl der Regionen, die angezeigt werden, hängt von der Anzahl der Prozessoren im System und nicht von der Anzahl der verschachtelten DCPMMs ab. Wenn die DCPMMs als „Interleaved“ konfiguriert sind, wird im System, auf dem DCPMMs installiert sind, eine persistente Speicherregion pro Sockel aufgeführt. Wenn die DCPMMs als „Non Interleaved“ konfiguriert sind, wird für jedes im System installierte DCPMM eine dauerhafte Speicherregion aufgeführt.

Um ein Ziel im BIOS zu erstellen, navigieren Sie zu: Memory Settings (Speichereinstellungen) > Persistent Memory (Persistenter Speicher) > Intel Persistent Memory (Persistenter Intel Speicher) > Region Configuration (Regionskonfiguration) > Create Goal Config (Zielkonfiguration erstellen).
5 DCPMM-Ereignisberichte Wenn das System DCPMM-bezogene Ereignisse während der Laufzeit oder des POST erkennt, protokolliert das System die Ereignisse im Systemereignisprotokoll (SEL) und im Lifecycle-Protokoll (LCL) des Servers. Wenn beim Hochfahren des Systems ein Ereignis erkannt wird, wird das System während des POST angehalten und der Benutzer muss F1 drücken, um den Startvorgang fortzusetzen. ANMERKUNG: In diesen Meldungen wird häufig der Begriff „NVDIMM“ verwendet.
Empfohlene Maßnahme: k. A. ● UEFI0345: Der Löschvorgang auf dem nichtflüchtigen DIMM mit der Seriennummer in Steckplatz wurde erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Empfohlene Maßnahme: k. A. ● UEFI0347: Der Speicher kann nicht initialisiert werden, da ein oder mehrere Fehler während der NVDIMM-Initialisierung in Steckplatz aufgetreten sind. Empfohlene Maßnahme: Entfernen Sie das NVDIMM manuell und installieren Sie es erneut.
Empfohlene Maßnahme: Aktualisieren Sie die Passphrase für den persistenten Speicher, damit sie der korrekten Passphrase entspricht, oder führen Sie einen Vorgang zum sicheren Löschen auf dem DIMM-Speichermodul (Dual Inline Memory Module) durch. Beim sicheren Löschen werden alle persistenten Daten gelöscht. ● UEFI0357: Der Vorgang zum kryptografischen Löschen auf dem persistenten Intel DIMM-Speichermodul mit der Seriennummer in Steckplatz wurde erfolgreich abgeschlossen.
Empfohlene Maßnahme: Schalten Sie den Server aus und tauschen Sie das NVDIMM sofort aus. Weitere Informationen zum NVDIMM-Funktionszustand finden Sie im Installations- und Service-Handbuch zum Produkt, das auf der Support-Website verfügbar ist. ● UEFI0375: Die Konfiguration der Region für persistenten Speicher (PM) des NVDIMM in Speichersteckplatz kann nicht übernommen werden. Empfohlene Maßnahme: Überprüfen Sie die NVDIMM-Bestückungskonfiguration und versuchen Sie den Vorgang erneut.
6 Intel DCPMM-Verwaltung mit iDRAC Themen: • iDRAC-GUI iDRAC-GUI DCPMM-Firmware-Version Die DCPMM-Firmware-Version wird unter System > Inventory > Firmware Inventory angezeigt. Abbildung 7. DCPMM-Firmware-Version DCPMM-Hardware-Status Wählen Sie den Speicher-Link im Dashboard aus, um weitere Informationen über den Funktionszustand des Speichers zu erhalten. Der DCPMM-Hardware-Status wird unter System > Inventory > Hardware Inventory angezeigt.

Navigieren Sie zu Configuration (Konfiguration) > BIOS settings (BIOS-Einstellungen) > Memory settings (Speichereinstellungen) > Persistent Memory Settings tab (Registerkarte „Einstellungen zum persistenten Speicher“). Ändern Sie den Prozentsatz für „Persistent“ auf 100 %, um Intel DCPMM zu 100 % auf den App Direct-Modus einzustellen, und auf 0 %, um die DIMMs zu 100 % auf den Speichermodus einzustellen. ANMERKUNG: Das Feld Persistent memory type (Typ des persistenten Speichers) dient der Konfiguration eines neuen Ziels. Es dient nicht zum Ablesen des Status des aktuellen Ziels.
7 DCPMM-Sicherheit Themen: • • • Speichermodus App-Direct Kryptografisches Löschen und DCPMM-Sanitize Speichermodus Im Speichermodus werden die DCPMMs als flüchtiger Systemspeicher betrieben. Die Benutzer-Passphrase wird nicht unterstützt und diese BIOS-Einstellung wird ausgegraut angezeigt. App-Direct Benutzer haben die Möglichkeit, den Passphrasen-Schutz für DCPMM-Regionen zu aktivieren. Die Passphrase dient zum Schutz vor unbefugtem Zugriff auf in der DCPMM-Region gespeicherte Daten.

Beide Löschmethoden können mithilfe der BIOS-Setup-Optionen ausgeführt werden. Der Benutzer kann eine Löschung auf allen oder einer Teilmenge der installierten DCPMMs durchführen. Kryptografisches Löschen Die Funktion „Crypto Erase“ (kryptografisches Löschen) löscht den App-Direct-Regionsschlüssel (PM-RK), wodurch das System neu gestartet wird.
Abbildung 14. Sanitize Der Sanitize-Vorgang kann mit einer vollständig belegten 128-GB-DIMM-Konfiguration bis zu 15 Minuten, mit 256 GB bis zu 30 Minuten und mit 512 GB bis zur 1 Stunde dauern. ANMERKUNG: Der Sanitize-Vorgang wird nicht unterstützt, wenn die DCPMMs im Speichermodus konfiguriert sind. Wenn der Sanitize-Vorgang ausgeführt wird, wird im BIOS eine Eingabeaufforderung angezeigt, die auf ein „Overwrite“ (Überschreiben) hinweist.
8 DIMM-Konfigurationsänderungen Die folgenden DCPMM-Migrationsszenarien werden unterstützt: ● Austausch der Systemplatine aufgrund eines Defekts Alle DIMMs müssen in genau den gleichen Steckplätzen wieder bestückt werden. Die DCPMMs und Dateninhalte stehen für den Anwendungszugriff durch den Kunden zur Verfügung, nachdem auf der Platine die gleiche Konfiguration wie auf der ursprünglichen Platine wiederhergestellt wurde.
9 Windows Dell EMC unterstützt Intel DCPMM mit Microsoft Windows 2019 im Speichermodus und im App-Direct-Modus. ANMERKUNG: Stellen Sie sicher, dass Windows stets aktuell bleibt, indem Sie die monatlichen kumulativen Aktualisierungen installieren.

Speichergeräte im Geräte-Manager Verwaltung von PMEM-Laufwerken Windows unterstützt derzeit nur einen Namespace pro Interleave-Satz (Dies ist unabhängig von der Anzahl der physischen Geräte im Interleave-Satz). Die Option zum Verschachteln von DCPMMs kann während der Zielerstellung ausgewählt werden, wie in den App-Direct- und Speichermodus-Konfigurationen beschrieben. PMEM-Laufwerke müssen mithilfe des Befehls „New-Pmemdisk“ erstellt werden, wobei relevante Regions-IDs angegeben werden.
○ Schreibt Nullen in den Bezeichnungs-Speicherbereich, schreibt neue Bezeichnungs-Indexblöcke und erstellt dann die SCM-Stapel neu, um die Änderungen widerzuspiegeln. ○ Erfordert eine Benutzerbestätigung, die durch Force überschrieben werden kann. ○ Dieses Cmdlet ist als ein „Big Hammer“-Wiederherstellungsmechanismus konzipiert. Es wird nicht für die normale Verwendung empfohlen.
PMEM-Laufwerke entfernen Abbildung 19. PMEM-Laufwerke entfernen Windows 2019 unterstützt keine Erstellung von redundanten Volumes auf PMEM-Laufwerken mithilfe von Windows VDS (Virtual Disk Service). Verwenden Sie zum Erstellen von redundanten Volumes die Storage Spaces-Methode. Weitere Informationen über die Storage Spaces-Methode finden Sie unter: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/ storage-spaces/deploy-standalone-storage-spaces.
Abbildung 21. PMEM-Laufwerkserstellung mit der Regions-ID PMEM im Speichermodus Wenn Intel DCPMM im Speichermodus konfiguriert ist, sieht das Betriebssystem es als Systemspeicher. Die Größe des persistenten Speichers wird als Null angezeigt und die Größe des flüchtigen Speichers steht für die gesamte Größe des DCPMM. Abbildung 22.

Fehlerbehebung und Ereignisüberwachung unter Windows Windows-Errata Die folgenden Errata betreffen Windows-Betriebssysteme und werden voraussichtlich in einem zukünftigen BS-Patch behoben. ● Wenn ein Namespace in Windows Server 2019 (WS2019) erstellt wird, lautet die protokollierte Meldung als "The driver for persistent memory disk encounters internal error". Der Fehler ist vorhersehbar und kann bei Tests des Speicherklassen-Speichergeräts (Storage Class Memory, SCM) auftreten.
10 Linux Themen: • • • Persistente Speichergeräte identifizieren und erkennen Verwaltungsdienstprogramm Linux-Errata Persistente Speichergeräte identifizieren und erkennen DCPMM-Geräte auflisten Um alle physischen Geräte im System aufzulisten, führen Sie den folgenden Befehl aus: ndctl list -DHi Namespaces erstellen Durch die Konfiguration von Namespaces bestimmt, wie viel Speicherkapazität der Benutzer dem Betriebssystem zur Verfügung stellt.
Um Daten in das Gerät zu schreiben, führen Sie den folgenden Befehl aus: cd /mnt/pmemX echo “Hello World” >>test.txt Setzen Sie das System zurück. Die Daten sollten über den Aus- und Einschaltzyklus hinaus dauerhaft gespeichert sein. Namespaces löschen Namespaces können mithilfe des folgenden NDCTL-Befehls gelöscht werden: ndctl destroy-namespace ist der Gerätename namespaceX.
Problemumgehung: Starten Sie mit „modprobe.blacklist=nd_pmem“ in der Kernel-Befehlszeile, um den Fehler zu ignorieren und den Startvorgang zu ermöglichen. Warten Sie anschließend, bis die Addressbereich-Scrub-Funktion den Speicher bereinigt und den Standort der ungültigen Adresse identifiziert hat, damit sie in der Zukunft beim Systemstart umgangen wird. 2.
11 VMware ESXi Dell EMC unterstützt Intel DCPMM ab vSphere 6.7 EP10 (Build-Nr. 13981272) und höher. Der Support ist für den Intel DCPMM-Speicherund -App-Direct-Modus verfügbar. Die Bestandsinformationen des persistenten Speichers sind als Teil des Host-Clients verfügbar. Informationen zu den persistenten Speicherdaten, die dem Benutzer angezeigt werden, finden Sie unter Managing Persistent Memory im vSphere Single Host Management - VMware Host Client.

Abbildung 27. PMEM-Datenspeicher PMEM im Speichermodus Wenn Intel DCPMM im Speichermodus konfiguriert ist, sieht ESXi es als Systemspeicher.
Fehlerbehebung und Wartung in ESXi ANMERKUNG: Überprüfen Sie die Datei /var/log/vmkernel.log nach Fehlern oder Warnungen im Zusammenhang mit dem persistenten Speicher. Bei Protokolleinträgen im Zusammenhang mit dem persistenten Speicher wird „NVD“ und/oder „IntelNVDimm“ angehängt. ● Das Konfigurieren von Intel DCPMM im Speichermodus hat eine Reduzierung des Systemspeichers im System-BIOS zur Folge.
12 Systemdiagnose Die Systemdiagnose im Lifecycle Controller testet Intel DCPMM nicht im App-Direct-Modus, um zu verhindern, dass Kundendaten gelöscht werden. ANMERKUNG: Aufgrund der sehr langen Testdauer wird die Systemdiagnose für die Untersuchung von Intel DCPMM-Fehlern nicht empfohlen, während Sie sich im Speichermodus befinden.
13 Firmware-Aktualisierung Themen: • Dell DUP-Aktualisierung Dell DUP-Aktualisierung Laden Sie das DCPMM-DUP von www.dell.com/support/drivers herunter. ANMERKUNG: Stellen Sie sicher, dass das BIOS auf dem neuesten Stand ist, bevor Sie das DCPMM-DUP anwenden. 1. Starten Sie das Betriebssystem und führen Sie das DUP-Paket aus. a. Wenn Sie ein Windows-System verwenden, doppelklicken Sie auf die DUP-Datei mit der Erweiterung .exe. Starten Sie das System neu und das DUP wird automatisch ausgeführt. b.
