9. Close the system.
10. Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on, including any attached peripherals.

Installing The Integrated Storage Controller Card
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your
warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
CAUTION: Ensure the storage controller card is installed carefully, so that the components on the card are not
damaged.
1. Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.
2. Open the system.
3. Connect the SAS data cable connector to the integrated storage controller card.
NOTE: Ensure that you connect the cable according to the connector labels on the cable. The cable does not
function properly if reversed.
4. Hold the card by its edges and insert the card-edge connector firmly into the connector until the card is fully
seated.
5. Route the SAS data cable through the channel on the inner side of the chassis.
6. Connect the SAS cables from the storage controller card to the connectors on hard-drive backplane or SAS
expander card based on the hard-drive configuration selected. For more information, see the cabling images in
topic Removing The Hard-Drive Backplane.
7. Close the clamp.
