CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by
your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
NOTE: This is a Field Replaceable Unit (FRU). Removal and installation procedures should be performed only by Dell
certified service technicians.
1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
2. Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section.
3. Unpack the new system board.
1. Holding the memory riser guide and metal bracket, lower the system board into the chassis.
CAUTION: Do not lift the system board by holding a memory module, processor, or other components.
NOTE: Exercise caution when you install the system board into the chassis, because installing the system board may
cause damage to the optical drive cable connector that is connected to front of the system board.
2. Push the system board toward the back of the chassis until the release pin on the board clicks into place.
NOTE: Ensure that the two tabs at the back of the system board engage with the slots on the chassis.
