1. If you are removing a memory module permanently, install a memory module blank.
NOTE:
The procedure for removing and installing a memory module blank is identical to removing and installing a
memory module.
2. Install the memory riser.

Installing memory modules
NOTE:
The memory modules are hot to touch for some time after the system has been powered down. Allow the memory
modules to cool before handling them. Handle the memory modules by the card edges and avoid touching the components
or metallic contacts on the memory module.
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by
your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.
1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
2. Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section.
1. To open the memory riser, open the flip out brackets on the memory riser.
2. Locate the appropriate memory module socket.
