1 Einführung Der NVDIMM-N persistente Speicher von DellEMC ist eine unterbrechende Speicherklassen-Speichertechnologie, die eine beispiellose Leistungssteigerung gegenüber älteren Speichertechnologien ermöglicht. Jeder NVDIMM-N verfügt über 16GB nichtflüchtigen Speicher und hat den gleichen Formfaktor wie ein standardmäßiges 288-poliges DDR4 DIMM. Das NVDIMM-N befindet sich in einem StandardCPU-Speichersteckplatz, wodurch Daten in der Nähe des Prozessors platziert werden.

NVDIMM-N unterstützt auf RHEL 7.
3 NVDIMM-N - Übersicht Die folgende Abbildung zeigt eine Übersicht des NVDIMM-N mit seinen Hauptkomponenten und Systemschnittstellen. Der Kern des NVDIMM-N sind DDR4 DRAM-Geräte, mit denen das NVDIMM-N als RDIMM betrieben werden kann. Die Komponenten, die es dem NVDIMM-N ermöglichen, Daten zu persistieren, sind Controller, Flash und Spannungsregler, die ebenfalls im DIMM integriert sind. Abbildung 1.

Normalbetrieb von NVDIMM-Ns Backup auf Flash Wenn ein Server heruntergefahren wird, ein Kaltstart oder ein Stromausfall auftritt, wird ein Speichersignal an den NVDIMM-N-Controller gesendet, der dann auf dem NVDIMM-N-Controller auslöst, alle seine DRAM-Inhalte auf den integrierten Flash-Speicher zu sichern. Das NVDIMM-N-Speicherereignis wird ausgelöst, wenn der Server kurz vor dem Ausschalten steht und der Stromausfall auf NVDIMM-Ns bevorsteht. Der Wiederherstellungsvorgang nimmt ca.
Wiederherstellen von Flash Beim Einschalten des Servers initialisiert das BIOS den DRAM auf dem NVDIMM-N neu. Das BIOS steuert den NVDIMM-N-Controller über die SMBus Management-Schnittstelle, um seinen DRAM-Inhalt aus dem Flash wiederherzustellen. Der Wiederherstellungsvorgang nimmt ca. 1 Minute in Anspruch. Die Dauer ist unabhängig von der Anzahl der NVDIMM-Ns auf dem Server, da Wiederherstellungen parallel über alle NVDIMM-Ns auftreten.

Jeder Server unterstützt von 1 x bis zu maximal 12 x 16 GB NVDIMM-Ns für die gesamte maximale persistente Speicherkapazität von 192 GB.

5 BIOS Themen: • • BIOS-Konfigurationseinstellungen für NVDIMM-N BIOS-Fehlermeldungen BIOS-Konfigurationseinstellungen für NVDIMM-N In diesem Abschnitt werden nur die BIOS-Setup-Optionen beschrieben, die sich auf den NVDIMM-N-Betrieb auswirken. Eine Beschreibung aller Setup-Optionen finden Sie im Installations- und Service-Handbuch jedes Servers. Die BIOS-Einstellungen des persistenten Speichers sind konfigurierbar, indem Sie das BIOS-System-Setup aufrufen.

Wenn dieses Feld auf Enabled (Aktiviert) eingestellt ist, wird Speicher-Interleaving unterstützt, falls eine symmetrische Speicherkonfiguration installiert wird. Wenn die Option auf Disabled (Deaktiviert) eingestellt ist, unterstützt das System asymmetrische Speicherkonfigurationen (NUMA). Diese Option ist standardmäßig auf Disabled eingestellt.

Bei der Einstellung Enable gehen alle Daten auf dem NVDIMM-N verloren. Diese Option löscht die Integritätsinformationen des NVDIMM nicht und sollte dazu verwendet werden, Daten zu entfernen und/oder den NVDIMM-N neu zu verwenden.

Bildschirm „System BIOS Settings“ BIOS-Fehlermeldungen Wenn das BIOS einen NVDIMM-N-bezogenen Fehler während des POST-Vorgangs erkennt, zeigt das BIOS eine F1/F2Eingabeaufforderung und eine entsprechende Fehlermeldung an. Mehrere Meldungen werden angezeigt, wenn mehrere Fehler erkannt wurden. BIOS protokolliert auch ein Ereignis für jeden Fehler im Server System Event Log (SEL) und im Life Cycle Log (LCL).
UEFI0302 Werkseitiger Standardfehler bei NVDIMM-N unter [Location]. Alle NVDIMM-N-Module werden in den schreibgeschützten Modus versetzt. Trennen Sie die Stromversorgung zum System, setzen Sie das NVDIMM-N-Modul neu ein und starten Sie das System neu. Wenn das Problem weiterhin besteht, ersetzen Sie die in der Meldung angegebenen fehlerhaften Speichermodule. UEFI0302 Fehler beim Einstellen des Benachrichtigungsereignisses auf NVDIMM-N unter [Location].

NVDIMM-N Funktionszustand zeigt derzeit nur den Status „Korrigierbare Fehlerschwelle überschritten“ und „Nicht korrigierbarer Fehler“ beim NVDIMM-N an. Andere Fehler werden an das Betriebssystem gemeldet und protokolliert, werden aber nicht im iDRAC/OM NVDIMM-N Funktionszustand angezeigt. 2.

BBU-Status Errata für Protokollmeldungen Die folgenden Fehler betreffen die Meldungen im Systemereignisprotokoll: ● Wenn UEFI0340 im Lebenszyklus-Controllerprotokoll protokolliert wird, können das Systemereignisprotokoll und die LebenszyklusControllerprotokolle Einträge mit der folgenden Meldung enthalten: „Ein nicht unterstütztes Ereignis ist eingetreten“. Diese Meldung kann ignoriert werden und soll in einer zukünftigen iDRAC-Version behoben werden.

7 Serververhalten mit NVDIMM-Ns Das Serververhalten ändert sich geringfügig, wenn NVDIMM-Ns installiert sind. Dieser Abschnitt behandelt Unterschiede, die beim Herunterfahren und Hochfahren des Servers beobachtet werden können. In diesem Abschnitt werden auch Szenarien beschrieben, in denen der Server automatisch heruntergefahren wird, um sicherzustellen, dass NVDIMM-N-DRAM-Daten sicher in Flash gespeichert werden.
Boot (Starten) Das Server-BIOS stellt NVDIMM-N-DRAM-Daten von seinem integrierten Flash während der Startzeit wieder her. BIOS überprüft, ob die NVDIMM-N-Batterie installiert ist und im Falle eines Stromausfalls über genügend Ladung für ein Speicherereignis verfügt. BIOS überprüft außerdem, ob die installierten Servernetzteile für die Serverkonfiguration ausreichend dimensioniert sind.
8 DIMM-Konfigurationsänderungen Dell EMC empfiehlt, dass NVDIMM-N-Dateninhalte auf externen Speicher gesichert werden, bevor Sie Änderungen an der ServerSpeicherkonfiguration vornehmen. Dies gilt sowohl für NVDIMM-Ns als auch für RDIMMs. Aufgrund von Algorithmen zur SpeicherfehlerKorrektur (ECC), die für jeden Speichersteckplatz und jede Speicherkonfiguration eindeutig sind, können NVDIMM-Ns nach einer Änderung der Speicherkonfiguration Fehler erzeugen.
9 Windows Themen: • • • • • • BIOS-Anforderungen Einrichten Windows-Treiber Speicherklassenmemory in Windows Server 2016 Speicherklassenmemory in Windows Server 2019 Windows-Errata BIOS-Anforderungen Sowohl Windows 2016 als auch 2019 erfordern die minimale BIOS-Version 1.6.13, damit NVDIMM-N-Module ohne Probleme verwendet werden können.

Die Seriennummer für jede NVDIMM-N ist einzigartig, und physische Steckplatzwerte in PowerShell können mithilfe der folgenden Tabelle auf den Druck zugeordnet werden. Tabelle 11.

Unterstützung für Speicherplatz Windows Server 2016 unterstützt NVDIMM-N-Geräte, die extrem schnelle I/O-Vorgänge (Input/Output) ermöglichen. Ein attraktiver Weg, solche Geräte zu verwenden, ist der Write-Back-Cache, um geringe Schreiblatenzen zu erreichen. Im Microsoft Blog wird erläutert, wie Sie einen gespiegelten Speicherplatz mit einem gespiegelten NVDIMM-N-Write-Back-Cache als virtuelles Laufwerk einrichten.
Im Gerätemanager werden physische NVDIMMs unter „Speichergeräte“ angezeigt, während logische Festplatten unter „persistente Speicherlaufwerke“ stehen. Abbildung 25. Gerätemanager Alle NVDIMM-N-Geräte werden vom nvdimm.sys-Treiber gesteuert, während die logischen Festplatten durch den pmem.sys-Treiber gesteuert werden. Beide Arten von Geräteobjekten werden von scmbus.sys erstellt, dem Bus-Treiber für persistenten Speicher. Dieses Bus-Treiberobjekt finden Sie im Gerätemanager unter "Systemgeräte".

Ähnlich verhält es sich, wenn die NVDIMM-N-Module über das BIOS-Setup-Menü oder durch modulbezogene Fehler zum schreibgeschützten Zugriff gezwungen werden, wären diese Geräte auch unter Windows Server 2019 noch lesend und schreibend zugänglich. Damit Windows Server 2019 NVDIMM-N auf die gleiche Weise wie Windows Server 2016 RTM verwalten kann, muss ein Registrierungseintrag geändert werden.
