Version Description
7.8.1.0 Introduced on the S-Series.
7.7.1.0 Introduced on the C-Series.
Usage Information
If a local-as is congured, BGP does not allow for the conguration of BGP confederation. Similarly, if BGP
confederation is congured, then BGP does not allow the conguration of local-as.
This command automatically restarts the neighbor session for the conguration to take eect.

neighbor maximum-prex
Control the number of network prexes received.
Syntax
neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} maximum-prefix maximum [threshold]
[warning-only]
To return to the default values, use the no neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} maximum-
prefix maximum command.
Parameters
ip-address Enter the IP address of the neighbor in dotted decimal format.
peer-group-name Enter the name of the peer group.
maximum Enter a number as the maximum number of prexes allowed for this BGP router. The
range is from 1 to 4294967295.
threshold (OPTIONAL) Enter a number to be used as a percentage of the maximum value. When
the number of prexes reaches this percentage of the maximum value, the E-Series
software sends a message. The range is from 1 to 100 percent. The default is 75.
warning-only (OPTIONAL) Enter the keyword warning-only to set the router to send a log message
when the maximum value is reached. If this parameter is not set, the router stops peering
when the maximum number of prexes is reached.
NOTE: When you set this option, the router accepts BGP prexes only until
the maximum congured value. After the maximum number is reached, the
router drops any additional prexes that it receives.
Defaults threshold = 75
