Concept Guide

Enabling temperature polling on ports
To enable temperature polling on the ports, use the following command.
Assign the stack-unit and port numbers that have to be enabled for physical temperature polling.
EXEC mode
enable stack-unit unit-number port port-number phy temp polling
To disable the temperature polling, use disable stack-unit unit-number port port-number phy temp polling
command.
Setting the reset port to normal mode
When the temperature of the optical port reduces below the threshold, you can enable the reset port to normal. To enable the reset port
back to normal, use the following command.
Assign the stack-unit and port numbers that have to be set from reset to normal mode.
EXEC mode
enable stack-unit unit-number port port-number transceiver
The system generates the below syslog message after successful conversion of port from reset mode to normal.
IFAGT-5-PORT_ENABLED: 10GBaseT transceiver port 1/2 in normal mode.
To verify if the optical port is set to normal mode, use the show interfaces interface-name command.
DellEMC#show interfaces tengigabitethernet 1/2

Automatic recovery of an Err-disabled interface
The Dell EMC Networking OS attempts to recover the interface from the Err-disabled state automatically based on the cause of the error.
You can congure the Dell EMC Networking OS to recover an interface from Err-disabled state automatically, if the interface is changed to
Err-disabled state due to the following:
BPDU Guard
FEFD
MAC learning limit
434
