Concept Guide

NOTE: TDR is an intrusive test. Do not run TDR on a link that is up and passing trac.
To test and display TDR results, use the following commands.
1 To test for cable faults on the TenGigabitEthernet cable.
EXEC Privilege mode
tdr-cable-test tengigabitethernet slot/port[/subport]
Between two ports, do not start the test on both ends of the cable.
Enable the interface before starting the test.
Enable the port to run the test or the test prints an error message.
2 Displays TDR test results.
EXEC Privilege mode
show tdr tengigabitethernet slot/port[/subport]
Non Dell-Qualied Transceivers
The system supports Dell-qualied transceivers and only some of the non Dell-qualied transceivers.
If the system displays an error message similar to the following, the transceiver is not Dell-qualied. The Dell EMC Networking OS places
the interface in error-disabled (operationally down) state.
Apr 29 05:09:16: %S4048-ON:1 %IFAGT-2-TRANSCEIVER_UNSUPPORTED_ERROR: Transceiver in slot 1 port
50 unrecognized, putting interface in operational-down state
The following command output displays that the interface is in error-disabled state:
DellEMC#show interfaces fortyGigE 1/50
fortyGigE 1/50 is up, line protocol is down(error-disabled[Transceiver Unsupported])

Splitting 40G Ports without Reload
You can split 40G interfaces into 10G ports without reboot. You can also combine the split ports to create a 40G port without reload.
The switch consists of six 40G ports (49,50,51,52,53,54) that can be split into 10G ports.
In stacking, congure prole rst before provisioning for new units. Otherwise it is mandatory to reload for prole to take eect.
If there is a mismatch in fan-out prole between master and the new member in stacking, the master re-congures the member with
its quad-mode prole, quad-mode, and stack-group conguration and then reset the member. To avoid stack split during prole
mismatch, the master does stack group congurations of the new member.
To congure the quad-port-prole, use the following command:
CONFIGURATION mode
442
