bgp graceful-restart
To support graceful restart as a receiver only, enable graceful restart on a BGP neighbor, a BGP node, or designate a 
local router.

Syntax
bgp graceful-restart [restart-time seconds] [stale-path-time 
seconds] [role receiver-only]
To return to the default, use the no bgp graceful-restart command.
Parameters
restart-time 
seconds
Enter the keyword restart-time then the maximum number of 
seconds to restart and bring-up all the peers. The range is from 1 to 
3600 seconds. The default is 120 seconds.
stale-path-time 
seconds
Enter the keyword stale-path-time then the maximum number 
of seconds to wait before restarting a peer’s stale paths. The default 
is 
360 seconds.
role receiver-only Enter the keyword role receiver-only to designate the local 
router to support graceful restart as a receiver only.

Usage 
Information
This feature is advertised to BGP neighbors through a capability advertisement. In Receiver 
Only mode, BGP saves the advertised routes of peers that support this capability when they 
restart.
BGP graceful restart is active only when the neighbor becomes established. Otherwise it is 
disabled. Graceful-restart applies to all neighbors with established adjacency.
