Multicast Source Discovery Protocol
(MSDP)
Overview
MSDP (Multicast Source Discovery Protocol) connects multiple PIM Sparse-Mode
(PIM-SM) domains together. MSDP peers connect using TCP port 639. Peers send
keepalives every 60 seconds. A peer connection is reset after 75 seconds if no MSDP
packets are received. MSDP connections are parallel with MBGP connections.
FTOS supports MSDP commands on the Dell Force10 platforms indicated by the
characters that appear under each of the command headings:
e E-Series, ,
