Enable Far-End Failure Detection on an interface.
Syntax
fefd
To disable FEFD on an interface, enter no fefd.
Defaults
Disabled.

Information
When you enter no fefd for an interface and fefd-global, FEFD is enabled on the
interface because the no fefd command is not retained in the configuration file. To
keep the interface FEFD disabled when the global configuration changes, use the fefd
reset command.

packets Enter the keyword packets to enable debugging of FEFD to view information on packets
sent and received.

(OPTIONAL) Enter the following keywords and slot/port or number information:
For a 1-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword GigabitEthernet followed by
the slot/port information.
For a SONET interface, enter the keyword
sonet followed by the slot/port information.
For a 10-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword
TenGigabitEthernet
followed by the slot/port information.
For a 1-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword
GigabitEthernet followed by
the slot/port information.
For a 40-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword fortyGigE followed by the slot/
port information.
fefd Enable Far-End Failure Detection on an interface.
fefd reset Enable FEFD globally on the system.
