Usage Information
If an IP address or VRRP group is assigned to the interface, you cannot use the switchport command on
the interface. To use the switchport command on an interface, only the no ip address and no
shutdown statements
must be listed in the show config output.
When you enter the switchport command, the interface is automatically added to the default VLAN.
To use the switchport backup interface command on a port, rst enter the switchport
command. For more information, refer to the “Conguring Redundant Links” section in the “Layer 2” chapter
of the Dell Networking OS Conguration Guide.
Port Channel Commands
A Link Aggregation Group (LAG) is a group of links that appear to a MAC client as if they were a single link according to IEEE
802.3ad. In Dell Networking OS, a LAG is referred to as a Port Channel.
• The platform supports 128 port channels and 16 members per port channel.
Because each port can be assigned to only one Port Channel, and each Port Channel must have at least one port, some of those
nominally available Port Channels might have no function because they could have no members if there are not enough ports
installed. In the S-Series, stack members can provide those ports.
NOTE: The Dell Networking OS implementation of LAG or Port Channel requires that you congure a LAG on both
switches manually. For information about Dell Networking OS link aggregation control protocol (LACP) for dynamic
LAGs, refer to the
Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) chapter. For more information about conguring and using
Port Channels, refer to the
Dell Networking OS Conguration Guide
