Usage Information Splitting a 40G port into 4x10G port is supported on standalone and stacked units. stack-unit stack-
unit port number portmode quad dynamically fan-out 40G ports to 10G ports and vice-versa
without reload in
S6000 and S6000–ON switch.
The quad port must be in a default conguration before it can be split into 4x10G ports. The 40G port is lost
in the cong when the port is split, so be sure that the port is also removed from other L2/L3 feature
congurations.
This command cannot be used if LR4 optics are inserted on the 40G interface.
The following guidelines apply to the splitting of 40GbE QSFP+ ports into four 10GbE SFP+ ports by using
the stack-unit portmode command on the S6000 or S6000–ON platform.
• For S6000–ON, the default ports on quad-port-prole are
2,4,6,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,27,29,31. For example, stack-unit 1 quad-
port-profile

Place an interface in Layer 2 mode.
Syntax
switchport [backup interface {gigabit slot/port[/subport] | tengigabit
slot/port[/subport] | fortyGigE slot/port | port-channel number}]
To remove an interface from Layer 2 mode and place it in Layer 3 mode, enter the no switchport
command. If a switchport backup interface is congured, rst remove the backup conguration. To remove
a switchport backup interface, enter the no switchport backup interface {gigabit slot/
port
[/subport] | tengigabit slot/port[/subport] | fortyGigE slot/port |
port-channel number} command.
Parameters
backup interface Use this option to congure a redundant Layer 2 link without using Spanning Tree.
The keywords backup interface congures a backup port so that if the
primary port fails, the backup port changes to the up state. If the primary later
comes up, it becomes the backup.
tengigabit Enter the keyword tengigabit if the backup port is a 10G port.
fortyGigE Enter the keyword fortyGigE if the backup port is a 40G port.
