Protocol to CPU Queue Mapping
CoPP enables you to rate-limit control-plane packets that are destined to the CPU there by, preventing undesired or malicious trac from
entering the CPU queues. You can rate-limit CPU bound trac both on a per protocol as well as per queue basis.
When packets ingress through any of the front-end ports, the system identies the packets that are CPU bound based on the protocol
congurations. Packets bound to the CPU are also identied based on the packet-type such as ttl0, ttl1, and so on. These packets are then
re-directed to the CPU on predened CPU queues. This type of Control trac re-direction is achieved using ACLs or through the protocol-
to-queue table that is maintained in BCM.
The following table shows the default protocol to CPU queue mapping:

Conguring Protocol to CPU Queue Mapping
You can congure the mapping between CPU queues and the protocols that can be assigned to each CPU queue. This feature enables you
to optimize buer usage and control the security related aspects corresponding to the control trac.
To congure CPU bound control-plane trac to map to specic CPU queues:
1 Create a CPU protocol group.
CONFIGURATION
cpu-protocol-group group-name
A CPU protocol group is created and the command mode changes to CPU-PROTOCOL-GROUP mode.
2 Create a protocol list.
