The shutdown command stops L3 (routed) trac only. L2 trac continues to pass through the VLAN. If the VLAN is not a routed VLAN

congured with an IP address, the shutdown command has no eect on VLAN trac.

When you delete a VLAN (no interface vlan vlan-id command), any interfaces assigned to that VLAN are assigned to the

default VLAN as untagged interfaces.

Congure a port-based VLAN, enter INTERFACE-VLAN mode for VLAN related conguration tasks and create a VLAN. Assign interfaces in

L2 mode to the VLAN to enable it.

1 Create a VLAN and enter the VLAN number in INTERFACE mode (1 to 4093).

2 Delete a VLAN in CONFIGURATION mode.
