Diskette Drive
Removing the Diskette Drive
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You
should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your
product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and
support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered
by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the
product.

Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect
the system from the electrical outlet.
2 Remove the front bezel, if attached. See
"Removing the Bezel" on
page 64
.
3 Open the system. See
"Opening the System" on page 67
.

Disconnect the power cable and ribbon cable from the back of the diskette
drive.
5 Release the diskette drive carrier from the top of the peripheral bay

Push inward on the plastic tab on the side of the carrier until the tab
clears the metal stop.
b Slide the carrier back and
lift
out of the chassis. See Figure 3-17
.
