When you add a printer to a Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 x64
Edition MMC, the printer disappears when you close and then
reopen the console.
When you open the Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 MMC, select
Print Management
Print Servers
Add/Remove servers
Add server
,
add a new network printer, and then close and reopen the console, the
new network printer disappears. However, if you click
Start
and select
Settings
Printers and Faxes
, the network printer is available.
The Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 x64 Editions operating systems
include a custom MMC snap-in, and the print management feature
will not allow users to save new network printers.

In the MMC, Open Mode appears as Read when the user has
Read+Change permission.
If the permissions are changed in Share folder management to
Read+
Change
and a user logs into the system from a different machine and
tries to access the share, the following events occur:
The file shows
Open mode
as
Read
instead of
Read+Write
, even
though the user has
Read
+
Change
permission on that shared folder.
The
Open
mode
is
Read
, even for a domain administrator who has
Full
control
permission on that folder.
The user can modify the contents of the file.
