ras-mc-ctl command displays DIMM labels related error message
Dell EMC OpenManage Storage Services utility fails to
reconfigure the virtual disk
Description: Dell EMC OpenManage Storage Services utility fails to reconfigure the virtual disk that is connected to
the PERC H755 or PERC H755N card. The dmesg displays the following messages:
megaraid_sas 0000:01:00.0: Failed to alloc kernel SGL buffer for IOCTL
megaraid_sas 0000:01:00.0: Failed to alloc kernel SGL buffer for IOCTL
The issue is observed on a Dell EMC PowerEdge R6525 server with a PERC H755 or PERC H755N card
and Mellanox ConnextX-5 NIC connected to the server. The issue may occur when the operating system
is under pressure for high-order memory.

Workaround: Reconfigure the virtual disk from the Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC).

Description:
The dmidecode utility displays the Slot Type field of Type 9 record as <OUT OF SPEC> for PCIe
Generation 4 NVMe slots.
Applies to: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6 and later
Cause: The dmidecode utility does not support the Slot Type value of 0x24 that is defined in System
Management BIOS (SMBIOS) version 3.4.

connected to the server and the number of I/O
operations is high
Description:
The operating system crashes when twenty DIMMs are connected to the server that is performing a high
number of I/O operations that engage both memory and hard drive. For more information, see Red Hat
Enterprise Linux Knowledge Base article 5486951
Applies to: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.8 and later
Cause: This issue is caused by the function move_freepages. The function does not check the validity of the end
page frame number.
Workaround:
Not available. This issue is observed when 20 memory modules are connected to the server. This issue
does not occur when 16 or 32 memory modules are connected to the server.
