Requirement Description
Privileges On a Windows Server, administrative privilege is required to install Replay Manager
Service. To use Replay Manager Service, a user must belong to the Administrators group
or Backup Operators group. In a cluster environment, a user must belong to the
Administrators group or Backup Operations group on each node in the cluster.

Replay Manager Service for VMware
Replay Manager Service for VMware requires the following:
DSITV virtual appliance version 4.1 or later.
VMware vCenter Server version 5.5 to 6.5.

The following table lists requirements for using Replay Manager to take Replays.

Volume Types
Windows basic volumes are supported.
Windows dynamic volumes are not supported.
Storage Center Live Volumes are not supported.
vVols are not supported for VMware extensions.
SMB File Shares The following criteria must be met to support SMB le shares:
Both the application server and le server must be running Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012
R2, or Windows Server 2016.
Only Microsoft SQL Server 2017, Microsoft SQL Server 2016, SQL Server 2014, or SQL Server 2012
databases, or Hyper-V virtual machines on SMB 3.x (and later) le shares can be backed up.
Replay Manager Service for Windows must run as a Windows account that has Administrators or Backup
Operators privileges on both the application server and le server. Also, the Windows account must have
at least read permissions on the le share data that is being backed up.
File Server VSS Agent Service role must be enabled on the le server.
Application server and le server must belong to the same domain in Active Directory.
SMB le share must be valid. That is, the SMB le share must adhere to Microsoft guidelines for SMB le
shares.

Replay Manager Service requires the following permissions:
On the local machine, Administrator privilege
Organizational Management Role
Microsoft HyperV
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with the HyperV role installed
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 with the HyperV role installed
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 with the Hyper-V role installed
