Managing QoS Proles
QoS proles describe QoS settings that can be applied to volumes.
By dening QoS proles to apply to volumes, you potentially limit I/Os that the volumes can perform, and also dene their relative
priority during times of congestion.
You can also dene a group QoS prole that can be applied to multiple volumes to limit the I/Os that the volumes can do in
aggregate.
Create a QoS Prole
QoS proles include a set of attributes that control the QoS behavior for any volume to which it is applied.
Prerequisites
• To enable users to set QoS proles for a Storage Center, the Allow QoS Prole Selection option must be selected on the
Preferences → Edit Storage Center Settings table.
• To enable QoS proles to be enforced, the QoS Limits Enabled and Server Load Equalizer Enabled options must be selected on
the
Edit Storage Center Settings → Storage page.
Steps
1. Select a Storage Center from the Storage view. (Data Collector connected Storage Manager Client only)
2. In the Storage tab navigation tab, right-click QoS Proles and select Create QoS Prole.
The Create QoS Prole dialog box opens.
3. Congure the QoS prole.
a. In the Name eld, type a name for the QoS prole.
b. Select a prole type: either Volume QoS Prole or Group QoS Prole.
c. (Optional for volume QoS proles only) In the Relative Priority eld, type a number to identify the priority compared to
other QoS proles,
d. (Optional for volume QoS proles only) Select Enable Latency Threshold Alert, then type a value in microseconds for the
latency alert threshold.
e. (Optional) Select Limit by IOPS, then type a value for the maximum IO per second allowed.
f. (Optional) Select Limit by Bandwidth, then type a value for maximum MB per second allowed.
4. Click OK.
Edit a QoS Prole
Modify the QoS prole to change the attributes that control the QoS for any volume or group to which it is applied.
1. Select a Storage Center from the Storage view. (Data Collector connected Storage Manager Client only)
2. In the Storage tab navigation tab, right-click QoS Proles and select Edit Settings.
The Edit QoS Prole dialog box opens.
3. Where allowed, modify the values. The prole type eld cannot be modied.
4. Click OK.
Delete a QoS Volume Prole
Delete a QoS prole for a volume.
Prerequisite
Only QoS proles that are not currently in use by any volume can be deleted. The Default QoS Volume prole cannot be deleted even
if there are no volumes assigned to it. Group QoS Proles can be removed or reassigned; however, Volume QoS proles can be
reassigned only.
