Managing QoS Proles
QoS proles describe QoS settings that can be applied to volumes.
By dening QoS proles to apply to volumes, you potentially limit I/Os that the volumes can perform, and also dene their relative
priority during times of congestion.
You can also dene a group QoS prole that can be applied to multiple volumes to limit the I/Os that the volumes can do in
aggregate.
Create a QoS Prole
QoS proles include a set of attributes that control the QoS behavior for any volume to which it is applied.
Prerequisites
To enable users to set QoS proles for a Storage Center, the Allow QoS Prole Selection option must be selected on the
PreferencesEdit Storage Center Settings table.
To enable QoS proles to be enforced, the QoS Limits Enabled and Server Load Equalizer Enabled options must be selected on
the
Edit Storage Center Settings Storage page.
Steps
1. Select a Storage Center from the Storage view. (Data Collector connected Storage Manager Client only)
2. In the Storage tab navigation tab, right-click QoS Proles and select Create QoS Prole.
The Create QoS Prole dialog box opens.
3. Congure the QoS prole.
a. In the Name eld, type a name for the QoS prole.
b. Select a prole type: either Volume QoS Prole or Group QoS Prole.
c. (Optional for volume QoS proles only) In the Relative Priority eld, type a number to identify the priority compared to
other QoS proles,
d. (Optional for volume QoS proles only) Select Enable Latency Threshold Alert, then type a value in microseconds for the
latency alert threshold.
e. (Optional) Select Limit by IOPS, then type a value for the maximum IO per second allowed.
f. (Optional) Select Limit by Bandwidth, then type a value for maximum MB per second allowed.
4. Click OK.
Edit a QoS Prole
Modify the QoS prole to change the attributes that control the QoS for any volume or group to which it is applied.
1. Select a Storage Center from the Storage view. (Data Collector connected Storage Manager Client only)
2. In the Storage tab navigation tab, right-click QoS Proles and select Edit Settings.
The Edit QoS Prole dialog box opens.
3. Where allowed, modify the values. The prole type eld cannot be modied.
4. Click OK.
Delete a QoS Volume Prole
Delete a QoS prole for a volume.
Prerequisite
Only QoS proles that are not currently in use by any volume can be deleted. The Default QoS Volume prole cannot be deleted even
if there are no volumes assigned to it. Group QoS Proles can be removed or reassigned; however, Volume QoS proles can be
reassigned only.
