SMI-S
The Storage Management Initiative Specication (SMI-S) is a standard interface specication developed by the Storage Networking
Industry Association (SNIA). Based on the Common Information Model (CIM) and Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM)
standards, SMI-S denes common protocols and data models that enable interoperability between storage vendor software and
hardware.
Dell SMI-S Provider
The Dell SMI-S Provider is included with the Storage Manager Data Collector. You can congure SMI-S during initial Data Collector
installation or post-installation by modifying the Data Collector Manager properties. When SMI-S is enabled and congured, the Data
Collector automatically installs and manages the Dell SMI-S Provider; no additional installation is required.

Storage Manager SMI-S is compatible with the following combinations of Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager
