Cabling Direct-Attached Host Servers

An SCv2000/SCv2020 storage system with front-end SAS ports connects directly to host servers. Each host bus adapter (HBA)

can attach to one SAS fault domain.

Preparing Host Servers

On each host server, install the SAS host bus adapters (HBAs), install the drivers, and make sure that the latest supported firmware

is installed.

for a list of supported SAS HBAs.

Steps

1. Install the SAS HBAs in the host servers.

NOTE: Do not install SAS HBAs from different vendors in the same server.

2. Install supported drivers for the HBAs and make sure that the HBAs have the latest supported firmware installed.

3. Use the SAS cabling diagram to cable the host servers directly to the storage system.

Connect the Front-End Cabling
