Steps
1. On the server where SupportAssist Enterprise is installed, browse to the <Drive where SupportAssist Enterprise is
installed>:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssist\scripts folder.
2. Copy the script file (LinuxSNMPConfig.sh) located in the folder and paste the file at a desired location (for example, \root) on
the device.
3. Open the terminal window and log in as a user with root privileges.
4. Run the script file on the device using the following syntax: sh LinuxSNMPConfig.sh -d <IP address of the server
where SupportAssist Enterprise is installed>. For example, sh LinuxSNMPConfig.sh -d 10.10.10.10.
Manually configure alert destination of server running
Linux
Perform the following steps to manually configure the alert destination of a server running Linux operating system:
Steps
1. Run the command rpm -qa | grep snmp, and ensure that the net-snmp package is installed.
2. Run cd /etc/snmp to go to the snmp directory.
3. Open snmpd.conf in the VI editor (vi snmpd.conf).
4. Search snmpd.conf for # group context sec.model sec.level prefix read write notif and ensure that the values for the fields
read, write, and notif are set to all.
5. At the end of the snmpd.conf file, before Further Information, add an entry in the following format: Trapsink <IP address
of the server where SupportAssist Enterprise is installed> <community string>, for example,
trapsink 10.94.174.190 public.
6. Restart the SNMP services (service snmpd restart).
