If you make
licensing changes
using vSphere
Client and then
reboot ESXi, the
changes are lost.
When you update the
ESXi host to an
evaluation license or to
a different license using
vSphere Client and then
reboot the ESXi host,
the updates are lost.
This issue does not
occur if you make
licensing changes using
VMware vSphere Server.
NOTE: This error is
observed only on the
pre-licensed
OEM-customized
ESXi images.
To work around this issue,
perform one of the
following procedures:
• Upgrade the ESXi image
to the Dell-customized
image from
support.dell.com
.
CAUTION: Performing
the following step removes
the OEM installed license
VIB. It is recommended that
you save the OEM license
key of VIB before performing
the step.
• Uninstall the OEM-
installed license VIB
package using the
VMware vSphere CLI by
running the following
command:
Vihostupdate.pl --server
server name --username
user name --password
password --bulletin
cross_oem-dell-he-esxi-
license_4.0-0 --remove
where,
cross_oem-dell-he-esxi-
license_4.0-0
is the OEM
license VIB name that is
available with the Dell-
customized image.
Reboot the system and
update the license key
using either vSphere
Client or VMware
vSphere Server.
