Considerations for iOS Devices
The server certificate is used by ClearPass to secure Web (HTTPS) and authentication (RADIUS) traffic. It can be
configured in ClearPass Policy Manager under Administration > Certificates > Server Certificate.
The optimal configuration for Onboard is a server certificate issued by a trusted commercial certificate authority. A
list of certificate authorities trusted by iOS devices can be found at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5012.
Alternatively, if you only wish to use a single Onboard Certificate Authority, then you can use that Certificate
Authority to sign the server certificate. Users will then have to install the certificate as part of the provisioning
process.
For testing purposes, you can disable the requirement for HTTPS on CPPM's Configuration >Authentication
page; however, this is an insecure configuration that should not be used in a production environment.
Using Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services
Navigate to the Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services Web page. This page is typically found at
https://yourdomain/certsrv/. The Welcome page opens.
Click the Request a Certificate link on this page. The Request a Certificate page opens.
Click the link to submit an advanced certificate request. The Advanced Certificate Request page opens.
