Creating and Editing Global HTTP Proxy Settings
A Global HTTPProxy setting includes its name, description, and common global HTTP proxy settings. Global HTTP
proxy settings are only supported on supervised iOS devices; they are ignored by all other devices.
To configure a Global HTTPProxy setting:
1. Go to Onboard + WorkSpace > Onboard/MDM Configuration > Global HTTPProxy, then click the Create
new Global HTTPProxy settings link in the upper-right corner. The Global HTTPProxy Settings form opens.
2. In the Name field, give the Global HTTPProxy setting a short name that identifies it clearly. Global HTTPProxy
setting names can include spaces.
If you are duplicating a Global HTTPProxy setting, the original name has "Copy" appended to it. You may
highlight this name and replace it with a new name.
3. In the Description field, briefly describe the characteristics of the Global HTTPProxy setting.
4. (Required) In the Proxy Setup drop-down list, choose either Manual or Automatic. If you choose Manual, the form
includes options for server, authentication, and login information. If you choose Automatic, the form includes
options for PAC URL and fallback.
5. (Required for Manual setting) In the Server field, enter the proxy server's network address.
6. (Required for Manual setting) In the Server Port field, select the value for the proxy server's port.
7. In the Authentication field, enter the username that will be used to connect to the proxy server.
8. In the Password and Confirm fields, enter the password that will be used to connect to the proxy server.
9. In the PAC URL field, you may enter the URL of the PAC file that defines the proxy configuration. To let devices
use the Web proxy autodiscovery protocol (WPAD) to discover proxies, leave this field blank.
10. To allow the device to bypass the proxy server and display the login page for captive networks, mark the check
box in the Captive Networks Login field. This option is only available for iOS 7.0 and later.
11. To allow devices to connect directly to the destination if the PAC file is unreachable, mark the check box in the
Allow Fallback field. If this check box is not selected, devices are prevented from connecting directly to the
destination in the event that the PAC file is unreachable. This option is only available for iOS 7.0 and later.
12. Click Save Changes. The Global HTTPProxy setting is available as a configuration unit on the Configuration
Profile form.
